Peel cops have laid charges in 14 out of 14 murders in 2015

Charges have been laid by Peel police in 13 out of 13 murders in Brampton and Mississauga this year.

1. Victim: Shariyfa Birkett, 29, of Mississauga.

Date: Feb. 6.

Location: Melanie Dr. (Steeles Ave. E./Torbram Dr. area) in Brampton. Police called at 4 p.m. after a woman’s body was found in a damaged Mercedes Benz.

Accused: Amit Kalia, 31, of Mississauga (victim’s boyfriend).

Charged: Second-degree murder.

2. Victim: Joshua Hilario25, of Brampton.

Date: Mar. 25.

Location: McGraw Ave. in Brampton. Responding to an offensive weapons call around 1 p.m. near Main St. N. and Williams Pkwy., officers found two men with stab wounds. Hilario died in hospital. His brother, Chris, 30, survived. Cops deemed it a targeted, drug-related home invasion.

Accused: Hakeem Ottley, 20, of Brampton; Dave Ramlogan, 22, of Mississauga; Manpreet Singh, 22, of Milton.

Charged: First-degree murder.

3. Victim: Kathryn Horne, 58, of Toronto.

Date: Mar. 29.

Location: Nanwood Dr. in Brampton (Main St. and Steeles Ave.) Cops responded to a disturbance call at 12:35 a.m. and found a woman’s lifeless body. A man was arrested at the scene.

Accused: Richard Pereira, 36, of Brampton.

Charged: Second-degree murder.

4. Victim: Ming-Chien (Teresa) Hsin, 59, of Mississauga.

Date: April 10.

Location: Police were called to an address around 1:20 p.m. on Robert Speck Pkwy. in Mississauga and found a woman’s body with obvious signs of trauma in a black BMW. The vehicle was attributed to a missing woman from Mississauga.

Accused: Eric Lu, 25, of Toronto (victim’s son); Mark Dookhram, 21, of Toronto; Justine Ordonio, 25, of Toronto.

Charged: First-degree murder.

5. Victim: Samuel Campbell, 84, of Mississauga.

Date: Apr. 16.

Location: Stillriver Cres. in Mississauga. Cops found an elderly man and woman with stab wounds in their home near Creditview Rd. and Bristol Rd. W. shortly after 1 p.m. The man died in hospital.

Accused: Trae Worrie, 21, of Mississauga (victims’ grandson).

Charged: First-degree murder, attempted murder.

6. Victim: Victoria O’Dea, 21-months-old, of Brampton.

Date: Apr. 20.

Location: Pappain Cres. in Brampton. Officers responded to a report of an unresponsive child at a home near Sandalwood Pkwy. and Hurontario St. at 11:25 p.m. The baby was found without vital signs and pronounced dead in hospital.

Accused: Frank Brian O’Dea, 42, of Brampton (father of victim).

Charged: Manslaughter, failing to provide necessities of life.

7. Victim: Robert McCollum, 61, of Brampton.

Date: June 30.

Location: Leslie St., Brampton. A man with stab wounds was found by officers in a complex near McLaughlin Rd. N. and Williams Pkwy. around 12:30 p.m. Paramedics treated him and took him to hospital with critical injuries. The man died in hospital shortly after.

Accused: Jermaine Wood, 29, of Brampton

Charged: Second-degree murder.

8. Victim: Wayne Croft, 49 , of Mississauga.

Date: Aug. 1.

Location: Roche Ct. in Mississauga. Cops responded at 1:30 a.m. to a call for an unconscious man in an apartment complex near the QEW and Erin Mills Pkwy. and found the victim without vital signs. The man was pronounced dead in hospital.

Accused: Charles Croft (victim’s half-brother).

Charged: Second-degree murder.

9. Victim: William Marcel Maasen, 36, of Mississauga.

Date: Aug. 7

Location: A man’s body was found behind the Woodchester Plaza in Mississauga by officers just after 2:30 p.m. at Dundas St. and Woodchester Dr. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Accused: Sem Golov, 19.

Charged: Second-degree murder.

10. Victim: Galina Alexander, 44, of Brampton.

Date: Aug. 15

Location: 33 Kennedy Rd. S. in Brampton. A call came in at 11:10 a.m. relating to a sudden death at a home near Queen St. E. and Main St. N. A woman’s body – without vital signs, plus obvious trauma – was discovered by police.

Accused: Hassan Salifu, 23 (the victim’s son).

Charged: Second-degree murder.

11. Victim: Madad Kenyi, 53, of no fixed address.

Date: Sept. 26.

Location: Westwood Mall, Mississauga. A man with critical injuries was found by police behind the Goreway Dr. mall on Sept. 24 at 7:30 p.m. He was the victim of a beating. Suspects fled on foot. Paramedics treated the man and he later died in Toronto hospital.

Accused: Nathan Bell, 29, of no fixed address; Brian Nelson, 41, of no fixed address; Gary Hoffman, 48, of Brampton.

Charged: Second-degree murder.

12. Victim: Ronald William Escott, 59, of no fixed address.

Date: Oct. 7.

Location: Elm Dr., Mississauga. A sudden death at 2 p.m. sent cops to an abandoned house in the Hurontario St. and Central Pkwy. area. A man was found with no obvious signs of trauma. An autopsy determined the man had suffered physical trauma and a suspect was arrested.

Accused: Jason Hamlyn, 37, of no fixed address.

Charged: Second-degree murder.

13. Victim: Vaishali Patel, 41, of Mississauga.

Date: Oct. 25.

Location: Police responded to a domestic call on Southfork Dr., near Mavis Rd. and Bristol Rd. W. at 5:45 p.m. on Oct. 24.

Accused: Kunal Bhavan, 20, of Mississauga (victim’s son).

Charged: Second-degree murder.

14. Victim: Surfeal Okubagzi ,2, of Mississauga.

Date: Dec. 15

Location: 2177 Sherobee Rd. in Mississauga. Police and paramedics responded at 2:36 p.m. for an ‘assist citizen’ call. The victim was found with obvious signs of trauma. A woman was arrested at the scene.

Accused: Russom Tesfamar Yordanos, 27, of Mississauga (victim’s mother).

Charged: First-degree murder.
