An 18-year-old student from India remains in hospital in stable condition after she was struck by a vehicle in Brampton.

“It doesn’t look like a hit and run,” said Peel Regional Police Const. Rachel Gibbs.

Emergency crews responded to a call around 10 p.m. Thursday at Bovaird Dr. E. and Mountainash Rd., between Torbram and Airport roads. Paramedics treated and transported the woman to a trauma centre. Her condition was  originally listed as critical but has since been upgraded.

“The injuries were still serious, but non-life threatening,” said Gibbs.

Peel’s major collision bureau is investigating. There’s no word yet on charges.
