It’s a chance to look beyond the uniform and get to know each other.

Residents are invited to join Peel police officers for Coffee with a Cop in Clarkson on Monday.

“It’s laid-back with no expectations,” said Const. Mark Fischer.

“Just good conversation and good Starbucks coffee.”

Officers from 11 Division will be on hand for the event, which Fischer calls “an opportunity to get to know officers, ask questions, or voice concerns.”

The event is taking place from 9 a.m. until noon at the Clarkson Crossing Starbucks at 960 Southdown Rd.

Coffee with A Cop began in Hawthorne, California in 2011 as its police department searched for ways to interact more successfully with citizens.

It’s since reached Canada, with Montreal and Toronto Police taking part in the community policing initiative.

Oct. 7 is National Coffee with a Cop day in the U.S.
