An impaired driver was arrested in Clarkson Tuesday night for care and control of a motor vehicle.
The man was inside of the vehicle near Southdown Rd. and Bonnymede Dr., just south of Lakeshore Rd. W. at 10 p.m. when cops were alerted.
“The car was not moving. It was parked in a parking lot,” said Peel Regional Police Const. Thomas Ruttan.
The man hasn’t been formally charged — yet.
Police will be asking for a breath sample and based on the results, “that would lay out what charges he would be facing,” Ruttan said.
The arrest comes on the heels of a horrific crash in Vaughan last Sunday which killed four and injured two family members.
Brampton siblings Daniel Neville-Lake, 9, Harrison (Harry) Neville-Lake, 5, and Milagros (Millie) Neville-Lake, 2, and grandfather Gary Neville, 65, died.
Marco Muzzo, 29, of King Township, is facing 18 charges in connection with the collision, including impaired driving causing death and dangerous driving causing death.
Ruttan said it’s important for police to be proactive.
“God forbid we lose any more children to someone that makes decisions like this. It’s ridiculous,” said Ruttan.
