Frighteningly fun Halloween activities start Tuesday

A haunted cemetery ride on Oct. 27 kicks off a week of spooktacular events leading up to Halloween weekend.

On Tuesday, Eden Cemetery is hosting its third annual Haunted Halloween Bike Ride at 2830 Derry Rd. W. The event is free and for all ages. Bike helmets are mandatory. Registration is required, and details are at mississaugacycling.ca


You can be active or veg out Friday evening. Games, crafts, snacks, and a scary movie are being offered at the Erin Meadows Library for youth aged 13 to 18. The event is free from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

A fun skate – in costume – at the Burnhamthorpe Community Centre runs from 7:15 p.m. until 8:45 p.m. All ages are welcome and regular admission prices apply.


On Saturday – Halloween, officially –  a number of events are taking place citywide:

Halloween Monster Mash at Celebration Square – Check out the spooktacular dance party with DJ Floz and Ki-Motion and participate in a masquerade costume parade. Trick-or-treat, enjoy free crafts, face painting, ping pong and giant play blocks. 300 City Centre Dr.; Children (3+); Free; Noon to 3 p.m.


Halloween Thrills and Chills at Benares Museum – Dress up, play games, learn your fortune and prepare an apple treat. 1620 Orr Rd.; children 5 to 8 years old; $23.50 – registration is required via ActiveMississauga.ca (search: Halloween Thrills and Chills); from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.


Horror Movie Fest at Central Library in the Noel Ryan Auditorium. 301 Burnhamthorpe Rd.; Adults (14+); Free.
