There were mascots and a trash-talking Santa, who made sure he received louder cheers from the White Oaks Montessori School students. The 23rd annual Toys for Tots campaign was launched at the Canadian Tire on Southdown Rd. Tuesday afternoon linking Peel Regional Police with Canadian Tire and the Salvation Army.
During the months of November and December, police employees volunteer their time to collect cash, Canadian Tire money, and new, unwrapped toys for children in need. Donations can be dropped off in store or at police stations.
More than $1.2 million dollars was raised in 2014, providing nearly 7,000 children with Christmas gifts.
