Two Peel residents win close to $1M combined

A pair of Peel residents will have no problems paying those dreaded January credit card bills.

Winston Dawkins of Brampton is going home with a $675,000 prize after buying a lucky ticket at Rockwood Mall in Mississauga.
“I wasn’t sure if I won, so I went to the store to have my ticket validated,” said Dawkins, while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to claim his winnings.
“Both the retailer and I looked at each other in surprise when the ticket checker started making noise. I couldn’t believe I was a big winner.”
Dawkins, 59, scored $1,000 a week for life with Instant Cash For Life and opted for a lump-sum payment rather than the weekly alternative.
He works in the shipping department of a major retailer and is planning to pay off his house and other debts with the windfall.
“But I’ll still continue working,” said Dawkins.
Meanwhile, a Mississauga man received a Christmas bonus.
Bogdan Oleksyszak is celebrating after winning $226,882.10 from the Dec. 25  Lotto Max draw.
He matched six out of the seven numbers, plus the bonus number to win a second prize. His ticket was purchased from a Petro Canada on Burnhamthorpe Rd. in Etobicoke.
