Peel Police will be on the offensive this Super Bowl weekend, looking for drunk drivers.
“We want fans and citizens to enjoy the game, but plan ahead,” said Insp. Paul Pogue from the road safety unit.
RIDE checks are being conducted on Saturday and Sunday evening, in addition to patrol officers who will be on high alert.
Football fans, and those hosting parties, are asked to use designated drivers, taxis, public transit, or phone a sober friend.
Call 911 if you see an impaired driver, or believe an intoxicated person is about to drive, and can’t be talked out of getting behind the wheel.
Information may also be left anonymously with Crime Stoppers 1-800-222-8477.
Game time is 6:30 p.m. Sunday as the Carolina Panthers take on the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl 50.
