A transport truck driver is being charged following an overnight crash – and ensuing diesel spill – which closed the Queen Elizabeth Way in south Mississauga during the Thursday morning rush.
The truck rear-ended a provincial Ministry of Transportation maintenance vehicle in the right eastbound lane at Cawthra Rd. at 3:15 a.m., said OPP.
Eastbound commuters, forced to exit or avoid the area altogether, were taking Lakeshore Rd., the Queeensway, or Hwy. 403 as alternate routes.
Two Toronto-bound lanes opened by 6:45 a.m., OPP confirmed. By 1:15 p.m., the right lane and exit still remained closed.
The truck driver has minor injuries and the other driver isn’t hurt.
Yogeswaran Balasingam, 56, of Etobicoke, is charged with careless driving.
