A man is lucky to be alive after his Dodge Challenger wound up in a Churchill Meadows pond overnight.
“He got out through an open window,” said Peel Regional Police Const. Rachel Gibbs, adding vehicles “sink really quick.”
Police were notified at 7:46 a.m. Friday when the man called about his car.
“He said that he lost control, hit a fence, and ended up in a pond,” at Thomas St. and Ninth Line, said Gibbs.
The dive unit was called in to search.
Six hours later the car was pulled, with help from a heavy recovery tow truck.

One police diver hurt his ankle or foot in the process.
Paramedics treated him and took him to hospital for minor injuries.
