It’s the perfect day for a September purge.
Peel residents can put unlimited amounts of acceptable waste at the curb on scheduled garbage days this week — Monday, Sept. 12 in south Mississauga.
This means the maximum amount of acceptable garbage placed outside is waived and garbage bag tags aren’t required.
Trash can be placed close to – but not on top of – garbage carts, leaving at least one metre, or three feet, of clear space between items and carts.
Carts and excess bagged garbage may be collected by separate trucks at different times on collection day, according to the Region.
If garbage isn’t picked up by 8 p.m. report a missed collection.
The Region of Peel is reminding residents excess garbage left at the curb on recycling collection day will not be collected. Double-check the pickup schedule here.
The next trash exemption period is running after Christmas.
