A 26-year-old Brampton man is facing charges following a hit-and-run which sent a senior to a trauma centre.
Peel police say the incident unfolded at 7:34 a.m. on Dec. 23 in a parking lot at 400 Queen St., just west of McLaughlin Rd. N., in Brampton.
The alleged victim was walking to his vehicle while the accused was reversing a van.
The van struck the victim, who suffered a serious head injury.
The driver stopped his vehicle, saw the victim on the ground, then drove away, police allege.
Paramedics transported him to a Toronto area trauma centre where he remains in critical condition.
Hector Santos-Benegas is charged with failing to remain at the scene of a collision causing bodily harm and dangerous driving causing bodily harm.
Anyone with information is asked to phone the 11 Division criminal investigation bureau at 905-453-2121 ext. 1133 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
