A 34-year-old Mississauga dance teacher is facing sexual assault charges following an accusation by a student who was 12 at the time.
Toronto police are investigating after responding to a complaint filed on Sept. 23.
The alleged incidents took place between September 2007 and March 2008 when the accused was a freelance dance instructor.
The woman owned Studio 22 in Woodbridge and also taught dance at Toronto’s Vince Parrell Dance Studio.
Cops believe the woman befriended a 12-year-old girl from one of the dance studios and sexually assaulted her.
Cheryl Thompson has been charged with sexual assault, sexual interference, and sexual exploitation.
She continues to work as a freelance dance instructor, said cops.
Thompson is scheduled to appear in a Toronto courtroom on November 5 at 2 p.m.
