A man who stole jewellery from a Sheridan Centre boutique narrowly escaped arrest thanks to his getaway driver who freed him from mall security. The incident took place around 12:15 p.m. Friday at the QEW and Erin Mills Pkwy. area mall.
There was “no indication of a weapon seen or used or threatened,” said Peel Regional Police Const. Lilly Fitzpatrick.
The man grabbed jewels and bolted from Adere Jewellers.
A security guard caught him and the suspect was being held until police arrived.
A man driving a silver vehicle pulled up, saw his partner in crime being detained, and helped him escape.
The suspect is white, 60-years-old, with a slim build and a beard. He was wearing a brown jacket.
There is no description for the driver. Anyone with information can call 905-453-2121 or Crime Stoppers 1-800-222-8477.
