Loaded gun, $38K in heroin seized as five Brampton residents nabbed

A cocaine and heroin bust by the major drugs and vice unit has led to the seizure of a loaded gun, and five Brampton residents are facing charges.

“Any amount of drugs, regardless of the quantity, is always better off the streets than falling into the wrong hands,” said Peel Regional Police Const. George Tudos.

Search warrants were executed at two Brampton homes, with officers seizing drugs, cash, a firearm and ammunition.
Heroin – valued on the street at $38, 000 – was confiscated along with $650 worth of cocaine during the first search on Balmy Way, east of Hwy. 410 near Airport Rd. and Castlemore Rd.
Officers seized a loaded .22 calibre Sig Sauer handgun, ammunition, and $14, 980 in Canadian currency from a Swales Cres. home, near Torbram Rd. and Sandalwood Pkwy. E.
Four men and one woman were arrested.
Jermaine Hinds, 21, is charged with possession of a controlled substance – cocaine, possession of a controlled substance – heroin, and numerous firearms-related charges. He was held in custody for a special bail hearing on Dec. 2.
Joel Hinds, 25, is charged with numerous firearms-related offences and was held in custody for a special bail hearing on Dec. 2.
Christopher Agyemang-Prempeh, 21, is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine, and possession for the purpose of trafficking – heroin. He’s scheduled to appear in Brampton court Jan. 7, 2016.
Iyesha Cassanova, 22 is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking – heroin, and possession for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine. She’s in court Jan. 7, 2016.
Vince Asanti, 25, is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine, possession for the purpose of trafficking – heroin, and possession of a controlled substance – marijuana. He is also scheduled to appear Jan. 7, 2016.
