Nine co-workers at Dixie Mall’s Fantastic Flea Market are sharing $1 million from the Dec. 18 LottoMax Maxmillions draw.
“We’ve only been playing together for about a year and when I tried telling everyone about our big win, they thought I was kidding around,” laughed group leader David Lansdell while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto, where he and the other eight winners picked up their prize money.
The group included parents, grandparents and great-grandparents from across the GTA who each received $111,111.11.
The co-workers already have plans for their share of the windfall, with much of the money being used to help family members — mortgages, university tuition and wedding bills will all be paid down.
“This win couldn’t have happened to a nicer bunch of people,” said Denise Dufour.
The winning ticket was purchased at the K Express News within the South Service Rd. mall.
The group members are: Nancy Roberts of Mississauga; David Lansdell and Jeannette Grant of Burlington; Charles Zammit of Etobicoke; Denise Dufour of Toronto; Lowa Katz of St. Catharines; Melicia Newell of Brampton; Rizwan Zaheer of Markham; Sham Sehdev of Woodbridge.
