Suspects remained at large Friday evening after a teenager was stabbed in his southeast Mississauga townhouse in the Dixie-Bloor area.
Peel Police dogs were unsuccessful in tracking two possible suspects wearing masks and dark clothing, said Const. George Tudos.
Emergency crews responded to a call at 1914 Kirkwall Cres., near Bloor St. and Fieldgate Dr., at 1 p.m. after a victim in his late teens phoned 911 reporting a home invasion.
The victim was stabbed in the torso.
Paramedics treated the teen and transported him to a trauma centre where he remained with non-life threatening injuries.
A neighbour who didn’t want to be identified said “it’s devastating, hearing it. It’s hard.”
Friends identified the victim as Max Kogut and said he lives in the corner house with his parents and older brother, Andrew; their grandmother resides next door.
“I can’t believe this is happening on my quiet little street,” said a long-time resident, adding she’s lived in the tight-knit Ukrainian neighbourhood for about 35 years.
Another resident said two “suspicious” men – one carrying a duffel bag – walked in opposite directions then met in a park, steps from the home, around 12:30 p.m. Thursday.
“They weren’t grocery shopping,” she said.
The canine unit was searching a nearby hydro field, east of the trailer park, for the suspects.
Forensic identification officers were on scene to investigate.
The incident marks the fourth home invasion in Peel this week — the first three were in Brampton.
