It starts with a tradeshow, ends with a concert, and features original songs by local musicians.
“There’s no place music-lovers can go,” until now, said Marc Belaiche, an organizer of the first-time Mississauga Music Expo.
The family-friendly event is taking place at Clarke Memorial Hall in Port Credit on Saturday.
Attendees will be learning about the history of music, instruments and equipment, and sitting in on various speaker sessions.
An evening concert will showcase six bands playing 20 to 30 minute sets.
“It’s a whole mix of genres,” said Belaiche, from rock to reggae.
Local acts include The Soundsmiths, Rick Moss, Bards, and Where’s Frank, comprised of Cawthra Park SS students.
Belaiche says it’s the perfect opportunity for family members of all ages who “never get the chance to see [musicians perform] because they’re playing in licensed establishments” to come out.
He adds the musicians will be performing original work, not cover songs.
The tradeshow runs from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., with free admission.
A $10 cover charge is in place for the concert from 6 p.m. until midnight.
Keep in mind, there’s no alcohol being served.
Clarke Hall is at 161 Lakeshore Rd. W.
