A woman believed to be responsible for two Mississauga bank robberies – in which the suspect claimed to have explosives – is on the run and Peel cops are asking the public to help identify her.
“As far as we know,” the suspect acted alone, said Const. Mark Fischer.
“There’s no indication of anyone else.”
The first holdup took place Oct.11 at 2:05 p.m. in the Rockwood Mall Royal Bank at 4141 Dixie Rd.
“No weapon was seen,” said Fischer.
The second bank robbery was on Oct. 17 at 2:20 p.m. in the Applewood Royal Bank at 1125 Bloor St. E.
In both incidents the suspect walked up to a bank teller’s wicket and produced a note saying she had a bomb and demanding money.
Once staff complied, the suspect fled the area on foot.
The woman is described as female, white, 40-to-50-years-old, standing 5-foot-4.
She has a slim to medium build with pock marks on her face.
The suspect was wearing sunglasses, dark pants, and carrying a President’s Choice reusable shopping bag.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the central robbery bureau at (905) 453-2121 ext. 3410 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
