A 31-year-old Mississauga man is facing 14 mischief charges for endangering lives after allegedly removing parts from pickup trucks in Meadowvale parking lots.
Peel police say a dozen rear differential plates have been removed from Dodge and GMC trucks since Nov. 1.
The suspect was targeting trucks parked in transit and car pool lots, and hotels.
Removing the differential plate from under the vehicle “results in the draining of fluid from the compartment which lubricates the gears and powers the axels of the truck,” reads a news release.
“When not lubricated, the gears can overheat and seize without warning, causing serious safety risks to the occupants of the vehicles.”
Michael Pizzardi was arrested Dec. 20 and charged with mischief endangering life.
Tips can be directed to the 11 Division criminal investigation bureau at (905)-453-2121 ext. 1133 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
