A bomb scare at Exhibition station crippled thousands of commuters for hours Wednesday after a suspicious package was found on the tracks.

GO Transit suspended service along the Lakeshore West line around 3 p.m. as Toronto Police’s bomb squad investigated between Long Branch and Union Station.

All tracks were closed. Trains heading everywhere from Barrie to Milton were halted.

“You can expect some delays as we work to return to our normal schedule, however, we’ll make sure that everyone gets home safely,” reads an online update from GO Transit.

Police detonated the bomb, with service resuming about four hours later.
