A man who held up the Beer Store with a gun – this time in Applewood Village Wednesday – is on the run and is possibly linked to another robbery in Oakville.
This is the second hops-inspired robbery in five days — the Rockwood Mall location was targeted Nov. 13.
“It’s looking like there are similarities,” said Peel Regional Police Const. Rachel Gibbs, adding she couldn’t confirm the suspect is the same man.
The incident took place at 1079 N. Service Rd., north of the QEW near Dixie Mall, around 8 p.m.
The suspect made off with cash and no one was injured.”He didn’t use the gun,” said Gibbs. Police are looking for a white man in his early thirties, wearing his hood up, driving a white work van. Anyone with information can call central robbery investigators at 905-453-3311 ext. 3410.
There are parallels to a third hold-up: An Oakville sandwich shop was robbed at gunpoint Nov. 17 at 667 Fourth Line. The cash register from Mr. Sub was taken by the suspect around 2:40 p.m., according to Halton Police.
The man also made off in a white van — reported stolen in Peel region on Nov. 11. The suspect description released by Halton Police is a white man, 30 to 35 years of age, 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-9, weighing 160 lbs. The suspect has a blond short beard and yellow teeth. He was wearing a black hoodie, black pants, black sunglasses and a black toque, carrying a small black handgun. The suspect is considered armed and dangerous.
The vehicle police are looking for is a white Mercedes Sprinter van with Ontario licence plate AH90911.
