Police are investigating after a truck backed into a gas metre in Streetsville Tuesday, causing fire to break out.
Emergency crews responded to a call from a plaza at William St. and Caroline St. at 8:20 a.m., where six business units were evacuated as a precaution.
“The fire was at the back, on the concrete,” said Peel Regional Police Const. Rachel Gibbs.
“It wasn’t inside.”
Businesses reopened and no injuries were reported.
The driver left the scene and was located a short distance away.
“There’s apparently only water damage,” said Gibbs.
No word yet on charges.
