Ride MiWay? Bus fare is going up in 2016

Transit riders in Mississauga will see a fare hike come May 2.

Cash fares and high school student fares on MiWay are frozen, however, the post-secondary students’ Presto e-purse will see a 20-cent increase per ticket (from $2.65 to $2.85).

Here’s the complete breakdown:

Adults

Tickets (10): 10-cent increase per ticket (to $30 from $29).

Tickets (5):  10-cent increase per ticket (to $15 from $14.50).

Presto e-purse: 10-cent increase per ticket (to $3 from $2.90).

Presto monthly pass: $5 dollar increase (to $130 from $125).

The adult monthly paper pass will be discontinued as of May 1, and a monthly pass will be available on Presto as of Mar. 1.

Seniors

Tickets (10): 10-cent increase per ticket (to $20 from $19)

Tickets (5): 10-cent increase per ticket (to $10 from $9.50)

Presto e-purse: 10-cent increase (to $2 from $1.90)

The $1 fare for seniors (during off-peak hours, weekends and holidays) remains under council review.

GO Transit Fare Integration

The cash co-fare for travel to and from GO rail stations was discontinued as of January 1, 2016 and is only available for Presto fare card holders at 80-cents.
