Mississauga Marathon means road closures today, Sunday

Road closures will be in effect this weekend, starting tonight, as thousands have descended upon the GTA for the annual Mississauga Marathon.

Events include a 2K, 5K, 10K, half-marathon, full marathon, and relays; the event is created and managed by Landmark Sport Group.

The 5K begins in south Mississauga at 6 p.m., meaning Lakeshore Rd. will be affected.

Here are the main road closures for the 5K:

  • Front Street North  (High St. W. to Lakeshore Rd. E. / 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.)
  • Stavebank Rd. S. (south of Lakeshore Rd. E. / 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.)
  • LIMITED ACCESS on Port St. E. (Stavebank Rd. S. to St Lawrence Dr. / 5:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.)
  • South end of Elmwood Ave. S. (6 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.)
  • Wanita Rd. (Elmwood St. S. to Cumberland Dr. / 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.)
  • Cumberland Dr. (southeast of Wanita Rd. / 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.)
  • Lakefront Promenade (6 p.m. to 9 p.m.)

Here are the main road closures for the 10K & 10K student relay:

  • Lakeshore Rd. W. (Johnsons Lane to Ben Machree Dr. / 6:45 p.m. to 7 p.m.)
  • Ben Machree Dr. (6 p.m. to 7 p.m.)
  • Front St. S. (6 p.m. to 7:10 p.m.)
  • Lakeshore Rd. E. (Front St. S. to Stavebank Rd. S. from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.)
  • Stavebank Rd. S. (6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.)
  • LIMITED ACCESS on Port St. E. (Stavebank Rd. S. to St. Lawrence Dr. / 6 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.)
  • South end of Elmwood Ave. S. (6 p.m. to 8 p.m.)
  • Wanita Rd. (Elmwood St. S. to Cumberland Dr. / 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.)
  • Cumberland Dr. (southeast of Wanita Rd. from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.)
  • Lakefront Promenade (from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.)

Saturday’s predicted high is 14 C, according to Environment Canada, while Sunday will likely see rain and a high of 10 C.
