Thousands are heading to the south side this weekend for great music, family fun, and food.
The 20th annual Mississauga Waterfront Festival kicks off at Port Credit Memorial Park Friday evening.
Attracting some 65,000 people to south Mississauga over three days, the event adds value to the community, said MWF founder and chairwoman Patricia Anderson.
“Visitors explore Port Credit, local community groups get to raise awareness about their programs, but most importantly it is an event where families can go and have fun,” she said.
Friday’s highlights include a country music extravaganza with performers such as Alessia Cohle, Riki Knox and local favourite Marshall Dane.
Saturday night is all about classic rock, with three tribute bands gracing the stage for a Rockin River Revue. The show starts at 7 p.m. with nods to AC/DC, Bon Jovi, and Bruce Springsteen.
There’s music and meditation — Yoga by the Lake is new this year, offering a variety of yoga styles, youth classes and mindfulness sessions for free.
Meanwhile, kid-friendly activities include educational shows, animals, and drumming lessons.
Admission and entertainment are free.
