Peel police are investigating after shots were fired in central Mississauga.
“We attended the scene and it took a little bit of time to find the area,” said Const. Mark Fischer.
The incident was reported at 7:40 p.m. Sunday near Heritage Hills Blvd. and Eglinton Ave. W., between McLaughlin Rd. and Hurontario St.
Police say they found no evidence of gunfire. A short time later, they received a tip about a vehicle’s window being shot out.
“One round struck a vehicle causing damage to the windshield,” said Fischer.
A four-door black 2010 Mazda 3 was found at Square One shopping centre with the rear window blown out. There’s no evidence to suggest the driver was a target, say police, adding there are no reported injuries and no suspects.
Police are asking witnesses who saw the vehicle beforehand or during the incident to come forward. Tips can be directed to the 12 Division criminal investigation bureau at (905) 453-2121 ext. 1233 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
